We were driving along and I saw a sign that said Kirtland. Ryan and I looked at each other like, "THE Kirtland?" He didn't think it was. I thought it had to be so we stopped. Best detour ever. Kirtland is one of the most beautiful hidden treasures I have ever seen. The kids didn't know much about the Church History that happened there so it was a great experience for everyone. There are moments when religion feels very big to me. Sometimes I feel like a little tiny dot in the world. While we were in one of the rooms it struck me that our faith, as big as it sometimes seems, is really very intimate. I was grateful for this day and the experience we had as a family.
The Epic Road Trip of 2010 was so fun we decided to do it again!
